Planning a wedding can be daunting as there are so many things to think about. The PearlSandals team performs a lot of tasks behind the scenes and we thought we’d share a wider view of our jobs with you.
There is always a lot of paperwork whether it is a religious wedding or not, contracts, agreements, invoices, financial control sheets. Everything is kept crystal clear, visible and accessible for our clients. We visit churches, synagogues and temples, go to the civil registry, attend masses, have meetings with priests, holy men and humanist celebrants alike.
We try to predict our couples’ needs and knowing the business, to get them the best deals regarding their budget and regardless of their number of guests. After a while in the business with excellent provider relationships, we are often able to get better deals with hotels for our groups or a little extra something like an upgrade, free dinner or bubbles. Our trusted Caterers go even a bit further in their natural quality and generosity and everything can be solved, nothing is a problem.
A lot of details are planned together and the range is wide, from lists of photographs which can be taken at a wedding to giving advice on seating, choice of music, favors, invitations, guests to invite… every couple or event is different and unique and has different needs and wishes. A fantastic part of the job are all the Visiting and Tasting days we have during the year. It’s when we have lovely experiences together, when things fall into place and also when the couples realize it’s all getting real!
We are also the ones to turn to when things go wrong, when guests have troubles, passports are lost, ankles are twisted, we are there at the embassy, the hospital, the hotel to help and support. That’s the reason we limit our number of weddings and don’t have them too close to each other. Otherwise this high level of personalized service would not be possible.
On the big day the team are the first and the last. We arrive before the catering and stay until the last guest and provider has left. It’s a long day that flies by so fast as you’re having fun following a strict schedule. The tasks are extremely varied, from coordinating all the providers and staff to lighting candles, decorating, making sure staff eats when fits timings best, checking transport, dietary requirements, making sure elderly have seating, children happy, getting the mother of the bride her favorite whiskey, toast mastering….So much fun!
