Some time ago I was a guest at the wedding of two of my favourite people Sabine & Donald. The celebration took place in Holland, instead of Barcelona. It was full of details, charm and love… Exactly how we like it….
Weddings in Holland are a bit different in comparison to what some might be used to, for several reasons. Only very close people come for the ceremony and for the dinner, and afterwards comes the big crowd for the party, cake & champagne are served just after the ceremony, and after eating it and mingling around, people will have dinner. During dinner there is time reserved by the MC for speeches, dedicated songs and acts performed by guests for the married couple.
The venue was amazing in the middle of the countryside, a former mansion of a wealthy family from the XVIII century which is now used for weddings and parties. A selected group stayed over for the night, and the next morning we all enjoyed a marvellous breakfast of homemade bread and marmalades, pastries and the finest Dutch cheese.
During the ceremony one of the bride’s favourite singers delighted us with a spectacular performance and the dancing was from a group in Amsterdam. What I particularly like about Dutch ceremonies, is that the celebrant makes it really personal, he takes time to get to know the couple, their background, personal information, parents and talks about it during the ceremony, it gives you the feeling that he is really involved.
The wedding was perfectly organized up until every last detail, just what you would wish for on such a special day.
