PearlSandals team don’t only organise weddings and events, but also dedicate part of our time to visit villas, restaurants, caterers, and all kinds of places and professionals to expand the range of opportunities we offer to the customers who put their confidence in us to organise their Big Day.This activity also helps us frequently opening new doors and new horizons for our proposals.
During these years we have organized weddings of couples of different beliefs from around the world; Catholic Irish, English, American, Austrian, Argentine, members of the Church of England and Scotland as well as from the Swedish and Norwegian reformed churches, etc …
Our permanent prospecting task and our long list of contacts have enabled us finding always the right place and the appropriate celebrant for every case depending on the religion of each couple. As Barcelona is a cosmopolitan and multi-cultural town, there’s also a significant Jewish community and has got, as other Catalan towns (Girona Besalú …), traces of a well-known medieval Jewish quarter, formerly under the protection of King Jaume I (The Conqueror).
This community is so important and active that even during the last dictatorship they were allowed to open the first consecrated synagogue of Spain in the modern times: that of the Israelite Community of Barcelona (CIB).
Therefore, the more interesting visit we’ve made this year has been at the CIB, of 24th Avenir street of Barcelona, a visit long desired for us to learn and see first hand the dynamics of this community, and prepare ourselves for the opportunity that a Jewish couple from anywhere of the world contact us to organize their wedding in Catalonia. In this case, it would be essential for us to have support and advice from the CIB.
We were also honoured by the guidance of its new director, the young journalist Victor Sörensenn, who showed us the premises of the centre including their synagogue, with a capacity of 140 people.
As personally had not ever been in an ‘active’ synagogue I must admit that I was especially moved by the experience, that hosted by someone as charming as Victor, it was a really nice visit. In fact we learned a lot, including some of the characteristics of the Jewish weddings ‘on site’ (Picture Synagogue & chuppah)
They explained us the CIB also has a Kosher catering and its own staff to ‘kosherize’ and monitor any kitchen where preparing the meal for an orthodox Jewish celebration, so this centre represents a basic resource for us to provide the best possible service to clients of Jewish religion, just as we do with all our clients.
Thanks to the pictures supplied by the management of the CIB, you can also join us on a visit to the premises of this Israeli centre, whose new director has undertaken with decision the task of making known much more the CIB to the Barcelona’s society in general.
We sincerely wish that in the near future the public presence of Jews in Barcelona is as large and usual as on the streets of New York, and Jewish couples coming from around the world want to celebrate their wedding in Barcelona, as do many hundreds of happy couples every year!
