When it comes to food there are a lot of decisions to make for your big day. You should think about canapes, main courses, midnight snacks and of course: cakes and sweets.
In the following we would like to give you some ideas regarding this topic and talk about latest trends in the world of heavy cream and chocolate 🙂
1. Something big or something small?
When we think about wedding sweets, usually the first thing coming in our mind is a big cake with lots of decoration. There are various kinds of wedding cakes: lots of layers, no layers, half done and naked cakes, marble cakes or cakes decorated with pearls and real flowers. There are no limits in creativity when it comes to the look or size of a cake.
BUT it doesn’t always have to be a big luxurious cake. Did you ever think about cupcakes or tartes? They can be a very nice way to give an individualized touch to your sweet hearts and they are easier to share.
2.Choose a flavour
When it comes to flavours you can have hours and hours of discussions. One likes chocolate the other likes strawberry and another is allergic to fruits. Before you start worrying start thinking about solutions. There are a lot of different ways to use different flavours at the same time: what about a wedding cake with one flavour in each layer? Or cupcakes in different flavours? Also, did you ever think about 2 or 3 little cakes with different flavours?
You see, there are a lot of options here. So, no reason for food fights!
3.One for all
Now that we are talking about different flavours: how does a sweets buffet sound for you? This is a nice way to have mini versions of cake, cupcakes and macarons. Your guests can try everything because it is not super heavy and you can add anything apart for guests with allergies or intolerances.
4. The “Cheese” Cake
If you are sick of the traditional cheese cake we all know and if you are not the biggest sugar fan in the world, you should try a cake made of real cheese. You can choose your favourite kinds of cheese to give it a delicate touch and vary regarding size and colour. No one will forget this cheesy cake 🙂
5. The Cake Presentation
When you present your cake, it’s all about the first impression. How the cake is arranged and presented should also reflect the rest of your wedding. If you are having a big Hollywood-like wedding for example try to give your guests a little show with the cake presentation. You can do it very posh with a big sparkler and cut your first piece with a sword (which by the way is the Spanish/Catalan way). If you think about having a small and romantic wedding just choose a more relaxed way.
But, however you decide to do it: you and your cake will get most of the attention anyway.
