One of the reasons couples choose to get married abroad is that they can manage their guests better. They do not feel so obliged to have to invite everyone to a destination wedding nor do they have to follow the protocol of a wedding in their home country.
Who do you need to invite to your wedding? As many or as few as you like! It is perfectly alright to say that only adults are invited. You can also just invite closest family but all your friends for a younger more relaxed party wedding.
On the other hand you can invite your siblings, favourite cousins and their families and stay a week together in one of the gorgeous villas in our portfolio that host up to 40 people.
How do you choose your bride’s maids and best men? With your heart. Who has been there through think and thin and who will continue to be there come rain or shine? Matt & I know Noel & Jim will be in our lives for as long as we live and are happy we chose them.
Who should do your ceremony? We have had fathers and uncles performing church wedding ceremonies as for Niamh & Marty, Annie & Frankie as well as good friends of the couples creating heartfelt humanist ceremonies like Irina for Katherine & Dan.
Toastmaster? Give this role to someone who will enjoy it and knows you well and when in doubt you can always delegate it to your planner! It is important for caterers, photographers and other providers to know the length of speeches and timings so everything around can run smoothly.
How can you honor the ones who are important but not your maids or groom’s men? Have readings at church and poems at humanist ceremonies, prayers of the faithful, witnesses can be as many as you like, ushers, ring bearers, flower girls can be 2 or 82. Take the opportunity to delegate DIY decorations, Music Playlists to dear friends.
Your parents are a bit overwhelming, what can you do about it? During the planning process and on the wedding day itself we are always happy to be the diplomatic go-betweener.
All in all, having a destination wedding and a planner makes it easier to manage your people!
