One part of the wedding planning where you can be original and personal is the theme you choose for your seating plan, table names and place names. Our couples have shown great imagination when it comes to themes for their table plans. Laura & Aidan chose names of their favourite places they had visited on their travels such as Bondi Beach. Places in your lives together, where you met, school, first date, first flat, first joint holiday, dates in your lives which could be combined with a guessing game.
Along the geographical options we’ve also seen the Barcelona barrios like, Gotico, Born, Parc Guell, Sarria, Poble Nou, Poble Sec, Barceloneta, Gràcia, Diagonal, Sagrada Familía, Raval, Eixample which Niamh & Marty chose for their tables. This could be combined with postcards or a picture representing the areas as well! Other ways to use the region and city is choosing famous BCN personalities like Gaudí, Orwell, Columbus and so on or buildings and places like Parc Güell and the Magic Fountain.
Using Catalan traditions is another idea with pics of Gegants, Castellers, Sardanas, Fideua, Bastoners, Capgrossus and why not Vermouth! Helen & Damian have their love of Cava and Champagne in common. My garage was full of old vintage Champagne bottles before their wedding! Corks were used to decorate the tables along with bottle holders.
Music lovers can use CDs or vinyl records, even cassettes and name the tables after love songs, dancing favourites, tunes the couple has memories to! A CD or USB stick could be given as a favour with the wedding music.
If you like wine why not choose the Catalan DOCs as your theme? Alella, Priorat, Montsant, Penedes, Garraf…. Oh there is plenty to choose from! Your guests also need place names and also this is an opportunity to be creative!
Lyndsey & Lewe had stone coasters made with their guests names on them which also served as lovely favour to take back home. Tor & Helene had an enchanted forest theme with sawn off pieces of branches to place the name card in. You can use old wooden clothes pegs, suitcase address labels for a travel theme, vintage keys, there are so many ideas out there! If you are having a destination wedding how about airport code name cards? Or customized postcards your guests can use to write home? More ideas.
We are looking forward to seeing this years couples fresh ideas!
